Perched on the coast overlooking the Sankaty Lighthouse in Nantucket Island is the Sankaty Head Golf Club. Opened in 1923, the course is one of the few true world-class links style golf courses. Wanting to give its members a renewed space that recaptured the original design, the club undertook a complete restoration project to the historically significant golf clubhouse. The primary directive was to allow members to take advantage of the incredible 360 degree views of the golf course from the clubhouse, which had previously been compromised by support functions. Designed with traditional seaside architecture and Nantucket’s rich history in mind, the building’s exterior was reconfigured while the interior composition was rearranged and updated to serve the members’ needs. After the renovations were completed the club was featured in Travel & Leisure magazine.
