Kiawah Island, South Carolina
Photography: Durston Saylor, Larry Lambrecht
This 8,500-square-foot Shingle style Kiawah Island residence sits on a one-acre lot overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. A beachfront house like no other, the clients asked the architect to fuse design elements inspired by their Celtic heritage with South Carolina’s low country aesthetic. Celtic knots and carvings are incorporated in exterior details, while the interior architecture brings to mind images of an Irish castle through extensive use of dark woods. Designed as the clients’ main residence, it includes a 1,500-square-foot guest house, home theater, gym, office and five bedrooms. The home was featured in Ocean Home Magazine, Entra Magazine and Kiawah Island Legends.
