Amongst the dense flora on secluded Terrapin Island in Kiawah Island, South Carolina, this 7,000-square-foot Shingle style residence sprawls across a rare double lot. Designed with a one-room deep linear plan, the home is oriented to the surrounding landscape to provide 180-degree views of protected marshlands. The owners, a retired couple, do most of their living on the first floor where adaptable plan incorporates pocket doors to create a transparency between the rooms. The cathedral ceilinged great room functions as the centerpiece of the home, while expansive decks overlook the marsh in the rear. The home was featured inSouthern Accents Magazine andFairfield County Homeshortly after construction was completed.
