Hilltop

Perched on a sloping hill overlooking an estuary of the Atlantic Ocean, this historic residence dates back to the 1890’s.  Speculated to be an undocumented McKim, Mead and White original, this three-and-a-half story house was laboriously renovated and restored after being left in decline for over four decades.  The original structure was completely restored, from meticulous replication of exterior detailing and moldings to hand excavation of the lower level to preserve the fieldstone arches.  Originally open, the arcade was glazed to enclose an indoor lap pool and spa.  An addition was built on the north end of the residence, which expanded the square footage to allow for modern conveniences not originally included in the plan of the nineteenth century house.  This contemporary project rooted in tradition was featured in Luxe Interiors + Design and WAG magazines.
