Perched at the top of a bluff in the Victorian beachside town of Watch Hill, Rhode Island, this historic farmhouse underwent extensive additions and renovations to be transformed into a summer retreat for a large family. Materials and elements from the original house were incorporated in the new design, which features a screened porch, new guesthouse and garage, redesigned entrance, and several backyard landscape elements. The guesthouse and garage, sited at the bottom of the hill, are tied to the main residence by stone stairs that lead up to the home’s entrance, which sits under a newly added Porte-cochere. A wrap-around porch is screened in some areas and open in others and to provide semi-outdoor entertainment areas that are enhanced by the backyard pool, spa, and fire pit. Picturesque views of the ocean complete the beach house feel. This house was published in Southern New England Home.
