After five successful renovation and addition projects to this home in Wilton, Connecticut, Mark P. Finlay was called back once again to add a 450-square-foot "hooking room" studio workplace in which the client could create handmade rugs. Working on a steep site of rocky land and around an old Norway Maple that was to be left intact, the new addition was designed on the slope with flagstone stairs leading up from the driveway. Three walls of glass and a cupola in the center of the room flood the space with light. Stained fir casing, crown molding, random width wide plank beech flooring and antique wood beams create a rustic and intimate ambience. The unique space was published in Country HomeandWestport Magazine.
