Barn Renovation

Fairfield, Connecticut

Photography: Nancy Hill

Initially constructed as a barn, this historic structure in Fairfield was converted to a farmhouse and eventually updated with modern amenities.  One hundred years later, new owners requested the home be returned to its roots.  Antique chestnut floors were installed throughout the home, fir beams inserted into the ceilings, and a silo addition containing a wet bar and wine cellar was constructed of reclaimed barn wood.  Careful articulation of each space creates a comfortable country home that is a custom showcase for the owners’ collection of early American Folk Art.
