Connecticut Guest House Studio
New Canaan, Connecticut
Mark Finlay Architects designed this New Canaan cottage in 2013 to complement the adjacent New England Shingle Style residence originally designed and built by the firm in 1994. Conceived as a three-bedroom guest house, the structure also incorporates the specialized function of a state-of-the-art recording studio.
Tucked discreetly into the surrounding woodland, the cottage is connected to the main residence by a stone walkway that traverses the landscape, reinforcing the dialogue between the two buildings while preserving the natural character of the site. The result is a quiet, carefully integrated composition that extends the architectural language of the original home into a more intimate and multifunctional retreat.
